FFFC October Fall Harvest Challenges 2013


Slight blur due to motion.

What can I say about September?  The kiddies headed back to school and we focused our time getting our miles in the FFFC Fall Fifty Challenge.  We had other challenges going on but they did not take off as much as working to walk/jog/run 50 miles in the month of September.  It’s all good though because in October we are just taking it to the NEXT LEVEL!!!

In October, we have only 2 challenges.  YESSSSS we are pulling it back because quite frankly, we all are busy and participating in too many challenges can actually end up doing more harm than good.  We definitely do not want that so we will concentrate on no more than 2 challenges a month from this point forward.

FFFC September Labor Day Challenges 2013


17086c7afe16fce6f327520c71a91af6 We had a whirlwind month of August.  We posted activity for 4 different challenges, Femme Fitale Fit Club hosted its very first boot camp with LiveRightFitness founder and trainer extraordinaire Sandi Moore, we hosted a Road ID distance challenge AND by the end of the month sent the kiddies back to school and adjusted to new school year schedules.  That is a lot to do in a month and we aren’t stopping now. September is a time where we wave farewell to Summer and embrace the colorful and crisp winds blowing in Fall.  That is my favorite season btw.  With all of this said, we have 4 more challenges this month and I know you all are just gonna CRUSH’EM! Challenge #1:  Photo-a-day challenge:  We did this challenge back in July and we had so much fun with it, as well as everybody else, we decided to post another one for this month.  We have really grown as a community and we love looking at photos, so we can’t wait to see all the creative snapshots people will post with this challenge.  The rules are below.

Challenge #4:  Eat 5 Servings of vegetables a day:

The power of fresh, all-natural vegetables can’t be underestimated.  Besides being chock full of vitamins and minerals, they help with your physical performance of daily functions including giving you more power and energy during your workouts.  We Americans do not eat enough vegetables of all varieties so this challenge is challenging YOU to do better this month by consciously consuming more vegetables.  Get creative but please steer away from drowning them in calorie-ladened sauces and dressing, frying them (you kill all of the nutritional benefits) or boiling them (all of the minerals and vitamins are left in the boiled water – vegetable broth anyone?)  A serving size is considered a palm-full or 1/2 a cup.  So we KNOW you all can eat 2 1/2 cups of vegetables a day.

Femme Fitale Fit Club Fall Fifty Challenge


Fall Fifty
Hey everybody!!!!  Long time no hear – Ha!  On top of the September health and wellness challenges for the month, we also set up an additional challenge to walk/jog/wog/run 50 miles this month.  That is less than 2 miles a day!
I set a pretty aggressive goal for myself in August to complete 100 miles and failed miserably.  I thought it would be better to set a more reasonable target in September and ask some family and friends to join me.
If you would like to participate do the following:
1.  Download Nike+ running app for FREE
2.  Set up your Nike+ account
3.  Send me the name of your Nike+ account to Diatta@femmefitalefitclub.com or leave a comment below with it (please send before 11 pm tonight otherwise I won’t be able to edit the challenge and add you once it starts)
4.  Send me a friend request through the Nike+ app (Diatta Harris)
5.  Accept my request to join the challenge via the Nike+ app
This challenge starts on September 1st and ends September 30thFeel free to invite your family members and friends to participate – the more the merrier!

Fall Fifty FAQ

1.  Do I have to do this outside?

A.  Absolutely not.  You can do this anywhere you like.  Just make sure your Nike+ app is started once your activity begins to be sure to calculate your distance correctly.

2.  Do I have to run this?

A.  Definitely NOT!  This challenge can be performed by walking as well.  This is to encourage everyone to simply move and not be as sedentary.

3.  Do I have to use the Nike+ app?

A.  You don’t have to use it but it sure makes it easier to see how everyone is tracking with the challenge because we will all be in one place.  If you do not care to download or  use the Nike+ app simply post a photo of the activity stats from your preferred app to facebook.com/femmefitalefitness to help keep you accountable.

4.  I use a pedometer, can I  participate with that?

A.  If it also counts distance along with your steps – SURE.  That way we are comparing apples to apples.  It is also a GREAT way to capture the distance you walked in a DAY!!  Very clever.

5.  What do I win at the end of this challenge?

A.  You will have the satisfaction of setting a goal and accomplishing it.  Sometimes you just have to do things for the betterment of you.

6.  Do I need to also wear the Nike device on my shoe to participate?

A.  No, the Nike+ app can function on its own without any additional components.

Femme Fitale Fit Club – Extra September Challenge

I failed miserably at my August distance challenge.  I am setting up a new distance challenge in Nike+ which has incorporated a challenge module in his FREE iPhone app.  I would like company so we can keep each other accountable so if you would like to participate in this challenge with me all you need to do is to make sure you are upgraded to the latest version of the Nike+ app and to leave the name you use with the Nike+ app in the comments below so I can add you to the challenge.

When you log your miles Nike+ app will automatically calculate your distance and update your leaderboard stats in the challenge.  I’m calling this challenge 50 in 30 (meaning we will be challenged to accumulate at least 50 miles within 30 days in the month of September).  You can accumulate those miles walking, wogging, jogging, running, or sprinting – just make sure you turn the app on at the beginning and stop it at the end of your activity.

The challenge begins September 1st and will end September 30th.  Who’s with me?  Then leave the name you use with the Nike+ app below in comments and let’s get this going!  I’m excited!

Can You Run 100 Miles?


Maybe you aren’t interested in earning a free gift.  Perhaps you want to see what your body can really do?  Well have I have the challenge for you.  I have challenged myself to run 100 miles in the month of August.  I have never done that before so we will see how this all works out.  I recently updated my Nike+ app and I see they now allow challenges where you can invite your friends to participate.  This is JUST the incentive I need because I can be very competitive.

Would you like to join me?  Then simply log onto Nike+, make sure you have the most current updates and send a friend request to DIATTA HARRIS (me) and I will add you to this challenge.  We can do this together and help push each other.  Don’t let the title of this challenge fool you – you can walk, crawl, wog, jog, sprint or run to get your miles in.  You can track your steps all day long, or during your workout.  However you choose to do it – get moving.
