Do You Know What You Are Drinking


I remember watching Oprah and she having a segment on her show with Dr. Oz about inspecting our poop.  I also remember reading articles in Essence and Ebony about human excrement and how to read your waste.  I read this infographic and thought it would be great to share with you all so you can know how to read and listen to your body and most importantly, detect when something is not quite right so you can consult your physician.

High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is in EVERYTHING!  I mean everything.  Even things you wouldn’t think of like yogurt, bread, jelly, ice cream, peanut butter, cookies, crackers, candy and juice drinks.   It has become the cheap and fast way to sweeten foods since we seem to be a country hooked on sweets.  Read more about this “wonderful” thing called HFCS.

The internet is full of people giving workout advice, but how do you really know who to follow? Well, I have scoured the internet for you and found 5 entertaining, genuine and knowledgeable people you must follow in the fitness industry.

Cory Gregory

Creator of the popular MusclePharm products, this 33 year old has made quite the name for himself in the fitness industry. He is featured in many magazine covers and has hundreds of thousands of social media followers.  He has tweeted over 44,000 times and has a large YouTube following.

 

Tee Major

Tee Major is a US military fitness instructor and an active blogger and Facebooker.  He has a dedicated and loyal following of a wide range of fitness enthusiasts. His Youtube channel has over 57,400 subscribers too.

 

David Zinczenko

David has done it all. He has passed legislation, written a number of books, served in the military and appeared on countless TV shows. He has hundreds of thousands of twitter followers and just signed a multimillion dollar book deal with powerhouse publisher Random House.

 

Charlene Johnson

Her website is only the beginning of her online influence. She is active on TwitterFacebook, Instagram and other social media platforms. Unlike the others on this list, Charlene is also a business and lifestyle coach.

 

Brett Hoebel

You may recognize him from TV shows like The Biggest Loser (season 11) or Dr. Oz.  Brett offers great advice online too.  He was 50 pounds overweight as a child and is now a top fitness expert and weight loss specialists. He spends time advocating against bullying too. With over 18,000 likes on Facebook and Twitter, he is definitely someone worth following.

Have You Been Drinking?

If you get thirsty – your body is already dehydrated.  One of this month’s challenges is to consume at least 1/2 your body weight of water in ounces (if you weight 100 lbs drink 50 oz) a DAY!!!  If you are active and sweating then you will need even MORE!!!  There are so many benefits of drinking water regularly it isn’t even funny.  It helps with:

  1. clear brain fog
  2. keeps you hydrated
  3. replenishes body fluids
  4. cleans out your system of waste
  5. regulates body temperature
  6. helps carry oxygen and nutrients throughout your body

And that is just getting started.  Did you know the majority of adult Americans do not drink enough water (and NO coffee doesn’t count)?  What are you waiting on?  Embrace this challenge this month and hopefully every month after to keep your body hydrated with the plain, good stuff.  If you can’t stand plain try flavoring it with pieces of mint, cucumber, grapefruit and/or tangerines.

I drink water daily so this challenge is not much of a challenge for me.  It is already part of my lifestyle.  I drink 20 oz of water when I wake up in the morning while relieving myself.  Perhaps that is TMI but it is the God’s honest truth!  I drink 20 oz of room temperature water before I even brush my teeth sitting on the john.  Then I drink another 26 oz during my workout activity.  I then drink another 26 oz of water while on meeting calls for work throughout the day.  And for good measure, I may drink another 20 oz of water while watching TV before I doze off into sleepland for the night to wake up and start it over again.  That is over 90 oz of water on a regular day.  I am active so I do need to drink that much.  I am participating in this challenge and reporting my water consumption daily to the group to help motivate those who do not find it as easy to embrace.  I log my water consumption in the FITBIT app I downloaded to my iPhone 4S.  If I can convert at least one person to drink more water – I will feel like I did my part!!  What are you waiting on?  This is day 2 of the May challenges but it isn’t too late for you to get your water IN!!!!  Let’s GO!

Fat Flush Water

Fat Flush Water:  Try it for 10 days and see what you think! Ingredients : Water 8 oz 1 slice grapefruit 1 tangerine ½ cucumber, sliced 2 peppermint leaves Ice – as much as you like.  Directions Wash grapefruit, tangerine cucumber and peppermint leaves. Slice cucumber, grapefruit and tangerine (or peel). Combine all ingredients (fruits, vegetables, 8 oz water, and ice) into a large pitcher. Stir & Enjoy!
